The Pedagogy component of the Innovation Exchange supports research and innovation in the development of pedagogical content preparation and practice in educator preparation. As educator preparation rises to the challenge of producing the next generation of educators, being responsive to student needs means preparing educators to select content and pedagogical methods that support the actualization of curriculum objectives.
Common Core State Standards
AACTE supports states’ adoption of college- and career-ready standards. These standards represent a unified set of expectations across the country of what academic content knowledge and skills are required for students to be ready for credit-bearing college courses and careers. All states have adopted a higher set of academic standards, the most well-known being the Common Core State Standards.
AACTE is committed to meeting members’ needs and serving as a national voice and resource on behalf of the educator preparation profession. At the request of our members, we have compiled a set of resources on the annual U.S. News & World Report/National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ) review of education schools. These resources serve to bring more transparency to the full story behind the review process, institutions’ history with NCTQ, and the collective concerns of the AACTE membership.
Debunking Myths About Educator Preparation & Teacher Quality
Throughout 2015-2016, AACTE is engaging its membership and partner organizations in a concerted effort to debunk myths about educator preparation and teacher quality. This communications initiative is gathering and disseminating stories about the work of member institutions and partners to help set the record straight.
AACTE’s Washington Week is held each June in the nation’s capital and features three key events:
